BAI hands over dozens of cross country buses to PSETSE

Five  are said to be physically impaired citizens friendly

Monday, July 11, 2022, Bishotu: The Bishoftu Automotive Industry (BAI) hands over here today  dozens of   modern , cross country luxury buses  to the  Public Service Employees Transport Service Enterprise (PSETSE)  , of which 5 are said to be physically impaired citizens friendly .

 The Buses are assembled owing to the agreement reached between the industry and the Public Transport Service Enterprise (PTSE).

The 45 persons seating buses are dubbed to be luxurious euro standards that have high horse powers, enough goods baggage, and toilet and refrigerator rooms. They are also equipped with full artificial intelligence systems. This is not to mention their less carbon emission styles. The models are said far better than the previous ones.

 50 more buses are reportedly under LC process and due to be assembled soon for PTSE. The Addis Ababa City Administration must have also requested and ordered 2000 city buses, and as such body parts procurement is in the pipeline.

Headquartered in Zhengzhou of Central China’s province, it is Yutong Company that supplies body parts to BAI.

BIA is one of the nine industries embraced under Ethio-Engineering Group (EEG) .It is engaged not only in assembling Public Service, Sheger and Anbesa buses for Addis Ababa City dwellers, but also in producing various automobiles and pickups meant for office and private purposes.

EEG and BAI are working currently hard also  with HonHai company so as to assemble pickups , so also to produce SinoTruks by launching the ongoing heavy dump trucks  cabin manufacturing workshop.

Minister of Defence and EEG Board Chairman ,  Dr. Abereham Belay  said that  EEG need to improve its products quality and be competitive in the world market , adding that  his board exerts unreserved support towards realization of  these efforts .

Transport and logistics Minister, W/ro Dagemawit Moges on her part noted that her ministry would work jointly with EEG in the production of electric buses in order to save foreign currency directed to the purchasing of oil.

 EEG CEO, Ambassador Meseganu Arega, congratulating all stake holders, reiterated that following the recent nationwide economic revolution, EEG has also   entered into its own reform initiatives.  The fact that  five out of the  over  fifty cross country buses are  made just to suit into the  physically impaired citizens make , make this round of  manufacturing special , he said  adding that less carbon emission means contributing one way or the other for  the country’s climate Resilient  Green Economy Strategy.

We are working, currently hard, with experienced foreign companies so as to boost our bus production facilities’ capacity.

We are planning to produce carbon emission  free , energy saving electric vehicles , he said and went on to state that  With this, we shall register better provision, quality and post sell services soon .

According to the CEO all these efforts are geared eventually towards saving foreign currency, creating job opportunity, and transferring technical skill and knowledge to the country.

Finally, he passed vote of thanks to the MTL and PTSE for their dependable partnership.

PSETSE General Director, W/ro Ferehiwot Telequ stated on the occasion that the modern buses are made in such a way that they can fit into the demands and interests of the public. This would make us definitely work and cooperate with the group, she said.

Senior EEG and BAI echelons   and staffs have attended the handing over ceremony held in the premises   of BAI

Ethio-Engineering Group (EEG) is a Governmental   business enterprise re-established in September 2020 under the FDRE Council of Ministers regulation No. 475/2020.

The Main purpose of the re-establishment of the group is to enable it play a leading role in the development of heavy industries in the country towards meeting the national vision of transforming to an industrial-led economy.

EEG is, therefore, engaged, among others, in manufacturing and trading of automotive products, Agricultural machineries, Construction machineries, power and electronics equipment, metal and metal products, and Plastic and polymer products.

Currently, it has nine subsidiary industries that have their own manufacturing facilities in different parts of the country. These are Akaki Basic Metal Industry, Metals Fabrication Industry, Construction Machinery Manufacturing Industry, Electronic Equipment Manufacturing Industry, Power Equipment Manufacturing Industry, Addis Machineries and Spare parts Manufacturing Industry, Adama Agricultural Machinery Manufacturing Industry, Ethiopia -Plastics Industry and Bishoftu Automotive Manufacturing Industry.

PSETSE was established by the Council of Minister Regulation No. 298/2013 as Public Enterprise and governed by the public enterprise proclamation No. 25/1992.

Bishoftu is a beautiful resort town, located some 47.9 kms south east of Addis Ababa in the east Shewa zone, Oromia regional state.
