- EEG hands over various agricultural machineries amounting to 77 million birr to MILLs
Thursday, 16 June 2022 ,Addis Ababa , Ethiopia (EEG):-The Ministry of Irrigation and Lowlands(MILLs) says that the overall efforts being exerted currently by Ethio –Engineering Group (EEG) so as to revive the agriculture sector by producing and supplying it with agricultural machineries need to be encouraged and strengthened .
This is disclosed by its minister H.E Ayesha Mohammed Mussa at agricultural machinery handing over ceremony held here today in the precincts of the Adama Agriculture Machinery Manufacturing Industry (AAMMI).
‘ No doubt , these helps the youth undertake their agricultural activities in a civilized way , she said and went on to state that unreserved efforts are being exerted to reach out the youth in Amhara, Oromia, Somali and Beneshangul –Gumuz states with farm implements .
By making the youth creative, it is possible to help them contribute their share in the country’s endeavour to not only produce surplus wheat, but also export it to the world market, the minister made it clear.
EEG has handed over various agricultural machineries amounting to 77 million birr to the Ministry. These include 37 tractors with ploughs and harrows, of which 30 having 120 horse powers, and seven of them 180. It is those with 180 horsepower that EEG handed today over to MILLS officially.
EEG CEO, Ambassador Meseganu Arega on his part reiterated that his group will work and strive hard to meet the demands of such ministries and other institutions engaged in the agriculture sector.
According to him , EEG is doing all its level best so that the agriculture sector is supported with modern agricultural implements .The Group has plan to establish not only facilities , but also post sell service centres in the regions, he noted .
EEG is currently, assembling and injecting over 516 .9 million birr worth Agriculture Machineries that were laid idle for decades into the sector.
Amhara , Oromia, Somali , and Benishangul- Gumuz states Agricultural Sector Bureau heads and youth representatives have attended the handing over ceremony.
Under proclamation No.1263/2021,ILLs is among the newly formed executive organs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE).
