Thursday, 12 May 2022, Addis Ababa (EEG): The implementation of kaizen in Ethio-Engineering Group (EEG) was assessed here today in the presence of the Ethiopian Kaizen Institute (EKI) .
EEG deputy CEO, Operation Sector, Eng. Endawok Abtie ,and Ethiopian Kaizen Institute (EKI) Deputy General Director, Mindaye Yirega have led the assessment process.
It is to be recalled that Kaizen has been implemented in EEG with the help of the Ethiopian Kaizen Institute (EKI).
On the occasion, those industries with better Kaizen performance and those lagging behind were presented and discussed.
Included in the lists of successful kaizen implementers are Bishoftu Automotive Industry (BAI), Ethiopia Plastic Industry (EPI), Power equipment Production Industry (PEPI), TatekTransformer Production Industry (TTPI), Adama Agricultural Machinery Production Industry (AAMPI), Akaki Basic Metals Production Industry (ABMPI). The rest industries embraced under the group are dubbed as lagging behind the system.
Lagging industries need to speed up their performance and be able to catch up with the sprinting ones, Endawok remarked.
Boosting leadership commitment, allocating necessary budget, streamlining the steering committee’s pace help increase the system’s outcomes.
The joint scheme is scheduled to end this Ethiopian budget year. Agreements are also due to be reached with EKI based on the general evaluations to be made then off.
Kaizen is a Japanese term which means “good change”, “change for the better”, or “improvement.”
